Gavin developed a passion for music intertwined with an equal fascination for computer and production technology from a young age. Drawing inspiration from the harmonious blend of classical piano and computer music, he delved into the world of early-days production tools and electronic devices. This dual interest not only fueled his obsession with creating music but also steered him towards exploring the realms of programming and technology, laying the foundation for his future in formal music theory, composition, and beyond.

His journey took a pivotal turn as he ventured into scoring for popular Korean dramas and films. Gavin’s unique ability to encapsulate the essence of each scene with his musical creations earned him widespread recognition and opened doors to numerous opportunities within the industry.

Gavin’s academic pursuits led him to the Korea National University of Arts, where his studies in musicology and music technology were complemented by his growing interest in the technical aspects of music production. It was during this period that he published the "Computer Music Guidebook" in Korea (2011), a testament to his expertise and innovative approach to music creation using software and modern tools.

Seeking to deepen his understanding of the cultural aspects of music, Gavin moved to the United States to study Cultural Anthropology at Georgia State University. His studies were driven by a belief in the intrinsic connection between music and culture, further inspired by the discipline of Ethnomusicology. This period was marked by continued collaborations with the media industry, allowing Gavin to weave together his musical talents with his academic insights.

Transitioning from traditional music production, Gavin embraced the challenge of iOS development, drawn by the potential of technology to redefine music creation and consumption. In 2019, he launched <Bgem>, his first foray into app development, which introduced users to generative music through algorithms. Although initially hesitant to label it as an AI music generator, this project marked Gavin's earnest entry into programming and app development.

<Bgem> was followed by <Roadtripr> in 2021, an app that delved deeper into music generation for meditation, and "Dramatique" in 2022, which innovatively combined video creation with generative background music. These projects underscored Gavin’s transition from a sound designer to an iOS developer, demonstrating his capability to blend his musical background with his newfound programming skills to create engaging, technology-driven experiences.

Gavin's journey from a music enthusiast to an iOS developer reflects his continuous evolution and dedication to exploring new frontiers in music and technology. His work not only enriches the user experience through immersive apps but also highlights his unique position at the intersection of music, culture, and programming.

In 2024, Gavin expanded his portfolio with the launch of FlySolo, an app-developing platform designed specifically for musicians. FlySolo empowers artists to create their own app, offering a unique avenue for sharing their music directly with audiences. This platform reflects Gavin’s commitment to democratizing music production and distribution, allowing musicians to harness the power of iOS technology to connect with listeners on a personal level. With FlySolo, Gavin continues to redefine the boundaries between music, technology, and user engagement, showcasing his vision of a future where technology serves as a bridge between artists and the global community.
